Vivian for House of Assembly

Hello friends, family and well-wishers On the 22nd of January, I had my official declaration at the ward level to run for the State House of Assembly, representing Ezinihitte L.G.A Mbaise Imo State, under the umbrella of the People's Democratic Party(PDP). It was a decision that came after several consultations with my husband, family, friends and party stakeholders. It did not come as a surprise to people, because I have been a frontline political activist and advocate for good governance from time immemorial.

Hello friends, family and well-wishers
On the 22nd of January, I had my official declaration at the ward level to run for the State House of Assembly, representing Ezinihitte L.G.A Mbaise Imo State, under the umbrella of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP).
It was a decision that came after several consultations with my husband, family, friends and party stakeholders.
It did not come as a surprise to people, because I have been a frontline political activist and advocate for good governance from time immemorial.

Also, I have consistently called for women and youths to step forward because though we make up more than half the population, we are still horribly underrepresented on the leadership frontiers.

People ask me why, and what I think could be done differently?

Yet, I insist that I have no magic wand or quick fixes that can change our narrative; But what I do have is a systematic plan, that will leverage human capital, policies, and technology to bring the much-needed result that we seek. I have never backed down from a fight, and I always bring the passion and energy required for every task. I am dependable, strong, unrelenting and with a will that does not break easily.

I have become increasingly miserable over the state of affairs in the country, state and my constituent, though I never stopped being an “incurable optimist,” keeping faith that whatever we are going through, is only transient, and will not last permanently.

Unfortunately, much will not change if we allow trivialities to dominate our essence; when we constantly play at serving the egos and palate of a few individuals or leaders, instead of serving the interest of the people who elect us into office.

Leadership should thrive on credibility, and that you establish through action and not words. The peoples’ interest should supersede party loyalty and clandestine politicking.

We have a leadership gap and a major humanitarian crisis on our hands:

The family which is the home front has suffered many setbacks:
Our young people are given to drugs, crimes, and get rich quick schemes.
Our women to even more demeaning professions to meet their daily needs.
The rate of unemployment has soared more than ever and there seem to be no
recourse or reprieve in sight.

The hospitals and health centres are butchering houses not fit for animals.

No electricity to drive ICT projects.

The schools which should be the bedrock of every society have become empty dilapidated buildings and shelter for stray animals.

The justice system is a whole mess on it’s
own and has constituted more nuisance in leadership problems, than any other parastatal.

The lack of freedom of expression and security upheavals has rendered the state and my constituent almost ” impotent”

Just utter hopelessness, wherever you look.

So I ask, where do we draw the line?

when do we stop?

How long are we going to stay afraid?

Should it continue to be every man for himself?

Pardon me, but my intention is not to paint a grim picture, but unfortunately, our reality calls for more honest conversation.

I am a proponent of nation-building; Which means we can’t give up because it looks impossible. It also means that we must take matters into our hands and decide our future, by first making sure we are registered voters.

It is not just the Government’s job to provide leadership, but we must all do our little by embracing the flexibility of purpose, singleness of vision for a better tomorrow, and then we strive and commit to it daily.

It is possible to build a better world, and these I will commit to by nurturing the potential of people in my constituent for innovation, creativity, self -confidence and leadership.

I am going to restore the trust which has been lost, along with the power to where it has always belonged.

So here I am, offering my people something new; a chance and an opportunity to strive for excellence.
An opportunity to serve with a better vision. A change from the norm.
A more radical approach to good politics that will leverage sustainable policies and laws to drive economic development and good governance.

Also, an end to money politics because when we choose wrongly today according to the dictates of our stomach, we get to live with the consequences for longer.

So come with me, let’s aspire for more together.

For development.

For sustainable policies.

For inclusion.

For equality

For shared values

For peace.

And for the hope that all will well again in Ezinihitte and the state at large.

It’s a long race. But not as hard or ambiguous as it may look.

Support a candidate that you can vouch for.

A candidate that you know.

A candidate with a voice to call things as they are.

A candidate who is not given to shenanigans.

Together we can do this.
