If you were not at the “Mop up Owerri” environmental walk; you missed out a great deal. The state government has our environmental issues on its priority list and will going be hard on offenders .
Littering and indiscriminate parking will be a thing of the past in Imo state. Failure to comply will attract minimum fine of 10k . 20k max for individuals. 100k for ministries , and 200k max for corporate organisations or 2 months jail term , or maybe even both. The mobile court will be sitting on Tuesdays.
The job of rebuilding our state is a collective one. Entraco has been saddled with that responsibility, under the leadership of its charismatic DG, Hon. Alex Emeziem, and the Chairman, Former Governor of Imo state, Ikedi Ohakim. I like to think of them as the dynamic duo. Under their leadership, rebranding of Imo state will be achievable with huge milestones.
I watched the former governor and DG pick up trash with their bare hands, shovelling and disposing them in nylon bags . I saw passion and determination. They won me over.
I felt a certain pride in being able to partake in such ground breaking affair towards salvaging and rebuilding our state. A government cannot work well without the encouragement and the support of the people. We can jointly achieve a clean state, by contributing in our own little way: We can start by trashing our refuse properly in nylon bags.
We can use the roadside bins, designated for that singular purpose. We can clean our gutters, thereby making it difficult for clogging . And we can use our voices , to enlighten those around us on the disadvantages of going against such a beautiful initiative, that is solely tailored at bettering the lives of every citizen in the state . Let’s not forget; cleanliness is next to godliness.I want to give a shout out to everyone who turned up for the environmental exercise. God bless Imo state.Nb: yours truly tried to slay, while picking trash.
